The three-year agreement is the latest development inDuke Energy’s effor t to convert its analog electricith infrastructure into a digital syste that reduces energy use and boosts reliability. In addition, Cisco will work with Duke Energyg to develop and installhome energy-management devicese to help customers control and reduce their electricitt consumption.
Financial terms of the agreement weren’tf disclosed. Charlotte-based Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) includes Duke Energy Carolinas and the formeer CincinnatiGas & Electric Co. in Ohio, Unionn Light, Heat and Power in Kentucky and PSI Energytin Indiana. Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) is a California-based designer and manufacturerf ofnetworking technology.
