At a May 28 work the Montgomery County Planning Board decided to recommendd in its draft Gaithersburg West Master Plan that the properthy be developed with up to twice as much or contain upto 1.34 million square feet of retail and residential space. The southwest cornet of the land currentlyy includesa 272,000-square-foot, three-building complex that houses software and pharmaceuticapl tenants.
The north side of the propertu contains the Metropolitan RegionalInformationapl Services' 72,000-square-foot headquarters. Last the board also recommendedthat Danac'sa Corridor Cities Transitway stop be located at or near its northeasternh corner, near the intersection of Diamondbaco Drive and Decoverly Drive. That is good news for since the board had left out the stop in earlier The transit stop near the corner may be developed whethet the state retains the current road alignmenty or adoptsthe county'ws locally preferred alternative.
The board also picked that locationb because the northeastern cornetr is considered to be convenient for pedestrians from the Decoverlresidential communities. "We have a long way to go, but we are encourageed by theplanning board's recommendations," said Timothy a Danac attorney. Several more work sessions are scheduler over the nexttwo months, and in July the planninyg board will send its draft master plan to the countu executive who will have 60 days to reviesw and comment before it is sent to the countyg council for deliberations.
